YEVGENY MIRONOV AWARDED THE STATE PRIZE

Actor and artistic director of the State Theater of Nations Yevgeny Mironov was awarded the State Prize. The corresponding decree, as reported by the Kremlin press service on June 9, was signed by President Dmitry Medvedev. Mironov received the prize "for his contribution to national theater and film."
In addition, the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of culture and arts for 2010 was awarded to the team of the Hermitage Laboratory for Scientific Restoration of Clocks and Musical Arrangements headed by Michael Guriev.
Another recipient was VGIK rector Vladimir Malyshev, "for contributing to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage and the development and modernization of the national traditions of cinematic education."
The State Award for outstanding achievements in humanitarian work was awarded to Juan Carlos I, King of Spain.
On June 9, Medvedev also signed a decree awarding the State Prize in science, technology and education. Among the winners is physicist Valentin Gapontsev, director of NOTIRE-Polus, recognized for the development of fiber lasers.
In addition, the prize was awarded to Mikhail Itkis, Deputy Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Physics, and academician Yuri Oganesyan of the same institution, for discovering a new region of stability of superheavy elements.
Artem Kobzev, Ph.D., Chief Researcher of the Institute of Oriental Studies, was awarded for outstanding achievements in the development of domestic and international sinology and the preparation of the academic encyclopedia Spiritual Culture of China. Joining the award for this work will be Mikhail Titarenko and Anatoly Lukyanov, director and head, respectively, of one of the centers of the Institute for Far Eastern Studies.
As reported by Interfax, the National Awards Ceremony will be held June 12 in the Kremlin. The amount of each prize is five million rubles.
